It’s time for Teatro Vivo’s Christmas tradition to take center stage! Above is a clip from last year’s production of Cuento Navideño, come join us this season to see what new surprises are in store and become a part of this festive tradition!
“Bah Humbug!” in El Barrio! Teatro Vivo gladly welcomes the return of their bilingual holiday comedy Cuento Navideño (A Christmas Story). The play is written and directed by Rupert Reyes and is based off the iconic holiday tale A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
The main character of this holiday play is Evangelina Cruz, a modern day Ebenezer Scrooge who’s selfishness has caused her to loose touch with her family, her community and her Hispanic culture, especially during the Christmas season. On Christmas Eve a surprise visit from her late business partner, Teodora spurs the journey through Evangelina’s past where she is forced to look closely on her actions and choices.
Cuento Navideño is an enjoyable blend of comedy, Hispanic culture and Hispanic holiday traditions that is a must see for this Christmas season! This production runs for two weekends, first from Thursday, Dec.r 6 to Sunday, Dec. 9, and then from Thursday, Dec. 13 to Sunday, Dec. 16 in the Rollins Studio Theatre at the Long Center.
